Vertigo Treatment

What is Vertigo?

Vertigo is an abnormal perception or illusion of motion. With vertigo a person will typically feel like they or their environment is moving when they or the environment may actually be stationary. Vertigo can present with sensations of spinning, swaying, tilting, turning or wave sensations. Symptoms of vertigo may result in imbalance, dizziness, and poor tolerance of movements. Vertigo can be intermittent, movement or visually provoked, episodic, or constant.

What is the best treatment for vertigo?

Usually a combination of Medical Management and specific Vestibular Therapy interventions. There are lots of different types of vertigo, so a thorough assessment to determine the cause of the vertigo is essential, then individualized treatment can be initiated.
What is a fast cure for vertigo?
A fast-effective treatment for benign positional vertigo (BPPV)is the use of repositioning procedures such as the Epley.
Can vertigo go away on its own?
Many types of vertigo can spontaneously resolve when the inner ear resets. But often it may recur, if not properly treated.
What triggers vertigo?
Meniere’s type vertigo can be triggered by foods with a high sodium content and barometric pressure charges. Vestibular migraine can be triggered by light, sound, motion, visual motions, weather, stress, and foods, particularly red wine, dairy and some nuts. Many types of vertigo are triggered by movements. Other triggers include some medications, falls, inactivity and toxins.
Does stress cause vertigo?
Stress attacks weak systems in our bodies. If the inner ear is a weak system, stress can provoke vertigo.
Can neck problems cause vertigo?
The blood supply for the inner ear and back of the brain comes through the cervical spine(neck), if the neck is impaired the blood supply may be compromised. Also, there is a nerve track that goes from the inner ear to the brain then to the neck to assist with posture and balance. So, neck problems can contribute to vertigo problems.
